Early 90s front engined Ferrari’s seem to have an elegant beauty that the current models seem to lack

Yeah the 456 is one of my favorite Ferrari designs. The very definition of understated.

It’s easy to say about restrained, softer designs like the 456 and 612. But it’s true of other models as well I think. It seems that where the 70s/80s were about wedge, and the 90s/00s were about curves, the current era is about fussiness and over-doing it.

Ferrari's touring cars are easily my favorites, always have been. Maybe it's because I could actually see myself driving one. Not only are they more practical and road-friendly, they attract a lot less of the wrong attention. I remember reading about the 456 as a teenager and thinking "Wow, I could own that and have a family, too!" (and NO teenage boy is thinking about a family)

I agree. Bros buy the 458 etc. Because it seems to be the stylish new money thing to do. But if you really love Italian Ferrari heritage the true Ferrari owner or car guy knows Front engined V12s have all the class and all the heritage

If I had Crazy Oil Money, I’d be all about the FF — the only modern Ferrari I truly love to look at. I already love wagons/hatches and shooting brakes, that thing is damned near perfect.

Yeah I think the FF is heresy but to each their own. That is the beauty of car culture we can like different things but respect each other's purchases

“Elegant beauty”
I couldn’t agree more, and would sooner own a 456 than an other.

I would take a 550 over a 456 but I agree it is up there
